I love a good story.
March 31st, 2009Got a link to an amazing story about the founder of Soak. It’s just inspiration, and reminds me why getting a degree is just a good idea. It’s knowledge, plain and simple.

I had a question recently on the “Just like a Peasant Cap” and it’s definitely an issue that I know can be confusing! The seam that goes down the back of the hat does in fact go all the way up, but then the top point created is folded down and tacked, or sewn about halfway down that back seen to help create that gathered or scrunched look.
I’ve worked to put together a schematic that explains how it works, which will hopefully assist with this final step in the process
Inspiration still hits. I just got an idea. It’s a good idea, I think. And it’s a fun idea. Now for the time to execute, and to pick a yarn!
So I am still around. Dancing, knitting, and muddling my way through life as per usual
I’ve knit some things, which I’ll get pictures of and post now that the air is a bit cooler up here in MA, and I have some exciting news to share! My pattern, which has been alive for over a year now, is being printed in YarnForward Magazine in a few weeks. (click on the blog link for a preview of the issue) I am thrilled to be amongst designers such as Vicki Howell, and Martin Storey. And I’m so happy to see this pattern published finally! I may not be as gung ho as I once was, but I think this is by far a better balance for me.
I’m selling off some books before I move, they’re on the Yarn and Book Sale Page with instructions for purchasing. Yarn to follow once I get a second to breathe and go take pictures at the studio of the stuff I put aside
Wow, sorry about that. Life threw me a 180 and I’ve been dealing with the consequences of muse taking me by the ear and saying “THIS, THIS is what you WANT to DO!” So here I Am.
I’m dancing again, which I haven’t in years, this time it’s Belly Dancing, and I love it. I love it and the positive wonderful image it has for women of all shapes and sizes, how it celebrates the female form, and how it brings people together, much like knitting, with its styles and events.
So I am, in a way moving on.
So if you are in my geographic area (that being Eastern MA) please come by for my (Creative Soul on) Fire Sale!
See Letter Below:
Hi All!
If you’re free this coming Saturday between 2-6 come on by my studio at Western Ave for a Big A$$ yarn sale! My focus of creativity has changed drastically over the past few months, and while I still love knitting, I won’t be doing nearly as much design work. What that means is that I have tons of kits, packs of yarn, and gorgeous sock yarn that needs a home where it will be loved, cherished and called George.
I Am at 122 Western Ave, Lowell, MA on the 3rd floor of the main building, studio 3-32 (3rd studio on the left when you leave the stairwell where the cargo elevator is)
I will have wine and treats, hope to see some of you there!

So I’m very excited to be in the running for April’s Knit Girl! The knit girl site can be found here.
I’m putting up my banner that was made for me, and linking it to the voting, I’m first on the list, so vote away! There’s some girls with a TON of votes already, so I’m doubting I’ll win, but it’s fun to try!
So, until the lag of time zones, scheduling and the internets catches up, I wanted to offer the additional shoulder shaping for Katlyn here on my site, as well as the schematic I sent along to Kerrie. I have no doubt she’ll get it updated quickly, but obviously the copy and paste imps were vicious to me this time around, so I wanted to get things posted asap!
Below is the missing Shaping:
Splitting work for fronts and back of sweater:
Note: Starting on a right side row, we’ll go around in order from the right front, to the back, to the left front.
Work 10(10,15,15,20,20,25) stitches in Lace Pattern St, turn, and work second row of pattern stitch. Continue working only these 10(10,15,15,20,20,25) stitches until armhole is 6.25(7.5,7.5,8.75,8.75,10,10) inches or 15.87( 19.05,19.05,22.22,22.22,25.4,25.4)cm long ending on a purl row(about 15 pattern repeats) , cast off.
Put 40(50,50,60,60,70,70) back stitches onto needle, work these stitches in lace stitch for 6.25(7.5,7.5,8.75,8.75,10,10)inches
or 15.87( 19.05,19.05,22.22,22.22,25.4,25.4)cm ending on a purl row, cast off.
Put final 10(10,15,15,20,20,25) stitches onto needle, work these stitches in lace stitch for 6.25(7.5,7.5,8.75,8.75,10,10) inches
or 15.87( 19.05,19.05,22.22,22.22,25.4,25.4)cm ending on a purl row, cast off.
And, the schematic:
Thank you to everyone who has commented on Katlyn, or put her in your queue on Ravelry, it’s very exciting to see!
And I’m in this one!
Meet the Katlyn Cardigan, which most people who have come to open studio have seen on my dressmakers dummy at one point or another!
I realized she’s lacking a full schematic on the Magknits site, so I’ll remedy that shortly and send it to the darling Kerrie, and post it here as well.
With a play that just finished, starting school to finish my bachelors degree, and many art projects going on, I’ve really been focusing on what I need to do, and sadly, that’s not posting on my blog…
But in other news, go see what the amazing Liz has cooked up!
